Gift Aid

Making a Donation to the Digbeth Trust

The Trust welcomes donations, gifts and sponsorship. The money helps us to continue to support voluntary and community organisations in Birmingham and the West Midlands.

You can make the most of your donation by completing a Gift Aid Declaration form which means that we can claim the tax back.

Do you need to complete the Gift Aid Declaration?

Donations by individuals

You can donate any sum of money from £1 upwards as frequently as you wish to any charitable organisation including the Digbeth Trust. The Digbeth trust can claim tax provided that the Gift Aid donation is made from income on which you have paid income tax. The Digbeth Trust will be able to reclaim the appropriate amount of tax from the Inland Revenue.

To make a donation you are asked to complete a Gift Aid Declaration form. You may also make this declaration over the phone or by email, if you prefer. This one- off declaration will remain in force until your circumstances change, or until you notify the Digbeth Trust of the cancellation of the Declaration.

Donations by companies

Since 6th April 2000, a company now donates the gross amount to the charity and will itself claim tax relief for the donation when calculating its profits for corporation tax. Companies do not have to complete a Gift Aid Declaration.

Donations by self-employed or sole traders

Individuals who are registered with the Inland Revenue as self-employed are treated as an individual and not a company and will need to complete a Gift Aid Declaration.

Donations by Non-Tax Payers

As an individual or as a company [or a voluntary/ community organisation] if you do not pay tax you may still make a donation, however neither you nor the Digbeth Trust will reclaim tax. You do not need to complete a Gift Aid Declaration.

Please return your donation and the Gift Aid Declaration form [if required] to the Digbeth Trust or contact us for further details. All donations will be acknowledged. Thank you for your donation which will help the Trust with its work supporting local communities.
