What we stand for
Our Values:
Targeting Need
The Trust works with VCOs in disadvantaged communities who are often volunteer-led, lack internal capacity, access to funders and professional and technical aid providers.
Independant, Impartial Advice
We offer independent, impartial support and advice to improve people's knowledge and understanding of regeneration issues so they can make choices and take the right first steps.
Thinking and Planning
We believe that enabling VCOs to take a business planning approach to developing community-led solutions is vital if voluntary organisations are to lay firm foundations for sustained service delivery.
Skills Transfer
At the heart of our work is user involvement, self-help and transferring skills.
Adding Value
Through its membership of sector support partnerships and strategic networks such as the Birmingham ChangeUp Consortium, Birmingham Community Empowerment Network and Birmingham and Solihull Social Economy Consortium, the Trust is able to look across several policy strands.
Influencing
We bring issues facing the grassroots sector to the attention of regeneration programmes, funders and policy makers and strategic networks
The Trust’s aims:
- Foster community development and local enterprise by strengthening the capacity of VCOs so that they can more effectively engage in and tackle local issues
- Develop the sustainability of projects that have long-term benefits for local people
- Encourage partnership working to increase funds and resources available to VCOs
- Make its own processes and services open and easily accessible to those in need
